Kevyn Lettau

Brazil Jazz
After my first record, 'Kevyn Lettau' was released in 1990, we started getting lots of offers to play concerts around the country. It was wonderful, but, most of the gigs were low paying and would have cost me much more to do had we traveled with a large band. So, we decided to take our little BrazilJazz trio on the road. Guitarist Peter Sprague and I had already spent several years playing music together. With Peter's amazing talent and Michael's creative drum set - percussion, we hit the road! When we returned it was a very natural step to go in the studio and record!
I have a special place in my heart for this record. It is very organic and 'real' even though the process of making it was a bit tedious.
The three of us spent weekends writing together which was a wonderful experience. I was still very new at song writing, but not new to just singing what I felt without worrying if I would sound bad or stupid. That has actually been one of my greatest strengths as a singer (I know many would argue with me on this), but I have always thought that the magic has a chance to emerge if I am able and willing to try new things and allow for that window of the unknown to open!
