Another Season
If I had to pick one of my albums as a favorite, Another Season would be one of the front runners. It is a band album, which means that almost all of the musicians played in our band. We spent a few weeks rehearsing and then we played some Gigs before we hit the studio. The sessions flowed and it was truly a family feeling we created which I think transferred right through to the tape! The record has a Brazilian feel throughout and the instrumentation also has retains consistency which makes it easy to listen to. This was not my goal when we started writing and pulling everything together. It just kind of turned out that way!
Another Season also marked the first time I wrote with Lou Pardini. He is one of those rare guys that can do it all; sing his ass off, play amazing piano and write beautiful songs. I learned a lot from Lou!
Kleber Jorge, a Brazilian singer, songwriter had asked me to write a few lyrics for him and I ended up asking him if I could record some of the tunes because I liked them so much! It was with our tune "Another Season" that I was blessed to have a number one hit on the Pop charts in Japan in 1994! It was a strange thing because the song is a Jazz tune that even has a scat solo! I have always thought that success has so much more to do with marketing than with the music and JVC really pushed "Another Season"! The result was that we were invited to do several Tours in Japan!
